When Miranda, a history scholar, gets a chance to travel back in time; she agrees. She
is implanted with a device that will return her when she is ready. She travels to Pompeii
in the year 62 A.D. and becomes a servant to Marcus Tullius. She is attracted to
Marcus, but knows a relationship is impossible. When ready to return, Miranda is
scared to learn the implanted device is not working. Is she stuck in this era forever?

Marcus Tullius is a fair man. He runs his slaves the way a man should, and gives them a
way to earn their freedom if they want. When Miranda comes to live with them, he knows
she is different. She talks strangely and has different ideas. But Marcus is very attracted
to her. When he finally brings Miranda to his bed, she explains things to him, and he
knows they must be true. But he wants Miranda to stay. Can he convince her to live her
life with him? Or should he take matters into his own hands?

Marcus and Miranda have a mistress and master relationship, with Miranda still wanting
her freedom of choice. She does not like living this way, but knows she loves Marcus
and prays things will change. But Marcus’s wife becomes jealous and there is a jealous
ex-lover to deal with. Soon Miranda is taken away and sold. Will Marcus find her in
time? Or is her life set for a different course once again?

Ms. East has painted a very vibrant picture of this time era. The story was described so
well you can almost see the countryside. Although told mostly in first person, you knew
the very thoughts and feelings of the other characters and the stories behind them. This
historical romance was written extremely well, with lots of factual history. The sex was
romantic and sensual. This is a pleasant read for a quiet evening.
