As the last of the great Sutrotha masters, Prince Lyell Karlis has duties and
responsibilities to his people with which he must follow through. Being a mystic warrior
is not always what it is cracked up to be. To protect the Unseleighe realm, Lyell must
investigate the reappearance of an evil Raonull sorcerer and find a possible spy. While
searching for the spy he has a vision of a beautiful woman who makes him feel things
more deeply than he ever has before. He has every intention of finding her even though
he knows he must also complete his quest.
Aurora Burton is fascinated by the vision she has of making love with an incredibly sexy
man that she has never met. When he shows up at her place of business, she is
amazed. His being a dark elf is not a problem. The Carousel caters to many
otherworldly beings. However, her own dual nature as one of the Dichotomy makes a
relationship between them very unlikely. In order to bond with a mate the man would
have to accept both Aurora and Evette. That seems like an impossibility to both women,
even though Lyell shows every sign of being attracted to them.
This is not the first story I have read concerning the Dichotomy race but it is the first
where the Dichotomy featured is female. This fact made the book especially intriguing
to me. A race of beings who are basically two people inhabiting the same space is a
unique concept that is absolutely enthralling. As the plot unfolds, the details revealed
keep the reader totally engrossed in the story. The setting makes an effective backdrop
for the storyline and is a change from the Island of Chimera, which is the usual location
for stories in this particular series. Events progress quickly but the rapid pace is
befitting to the storyline.
This terrific book fits very well into the sensational series concerning the Agency of
Extraordinary Mates. I especially like the way different authors work together to make
the series consistent and cohesive. In Carousel in particular, I enjoyed the references to
the other A.O.E.M. tales I have read and yet the story is also totally able to stand on its
own. Aurora and Evette are enchanting characters who deserve a chance at love. Lyell
is a very sexy dark elf with a lot of depth to his personality. Ms. Ross is a gifted author
who penned a wonderful story of love and acceptance. I recommend A.O.E.M.:
Carousel to anyone who enjoys tales of fantasy and the paranormal.
