Rosamunde Baird is a doted daughter who has her father wrapped around her finger. But one small kiss destroys Rosa’s world that was eight years ago now Rosa is a widow being forced out of the small cottage she has known as home. When Rosa is invited to the Dowager Duchess Helston’s home for a gathering of widows, Rosa knows that is the last place she should go, but as she and her sister have no where else to go, Rosa accepts.

Luc St.Aubyn is the Duchess’s grandson and now the Duke of Helston. When the widow’s club arrives at his estate he only stays because he is devoted to his grandmother. Luc tries to stay away from the gaggle of widows but when he meets Rosa he is attracted to her more than he wants to be. Luc has no intentions of getting married, and he has promised his mother not to dally with the widows, but he could not stand the sadness in Rosa’s eyes.

For some reason the Duchess has took Rosa and her sister under her wing, and no matter what the society thought of Rosa the Duchess took up for her. Luc knew that he should stay away from Rosa, but Luc seen sadness yes, but he also seen fire in her and he wanted the fire more than anything. But Rosa has secrets and no matter how she might feel about Luc she could never be more than a memory to him. Could Rosa tell Luc about her past? And if she does would Luc ever want her again?

Magnificent! What a beautiful sexy romance. Ms. Nash brings historical to life in her writing, you feel as you are right there in the era with the characters. Intense characters and steady dialog are just a couple of features to keep you ensnared. But it is the deep emotional and romantic feelings between Rosa and Luc that will enchant you and have you cheering them along. All in all a stupendous read.
