Melissa Stanhope is trying to make her dreams come true by accepting a position at Deer Creek Farm in Connecticut, the right step to take. When another employee is badly injured and names David as his attacker, Melissa wonders if she made the right choice. She does not want to lose everything she has worked so hard for. She must figure out how to muddle through it all.
David Weller is skeptical to say the least about the new girl. But after a while, he not only catches himself watching her constantly but also thinks he might even be falling in love. He wants to focus on his career but when his reputation is sullied, he begins to question everything.
When the farm manager gets hurt, Melissa, along with everyone else, quickly share his responsibilities. While working closely with David, she finds herself attracted to him. This seems to be the worst time of his life to pursue his attraction to Melissa, but that is not stopping him. Melissa is kept so busy taking care of horses and prepping for shows there is no time to figure things out. She hopes things will work out for them and does not let him push her away.
Ms. Paine’s knowledge of the horse world shows through in this book and the simple explanations made the story very easy to follow. I was immensely pleased with her writing style. This is a story of a whirlwind romance with twists and turns on almost every page. Love bloomed and questions arose that kept me entertained the entire time. The ending shocked me and that was the best surprise of all. This is author is one to be watched.
