Emma was raised on the sea and, after the death of her father, she takes over as
Captain of The Lucifer, a notorious privateer. When she kidnaps Nicholas, Emma
begins having feelings she thought were suppressed.
When Nicholas trades his freedom for his sister's, he knows there will be no going back
to his old life in England. What the pirates do not know is that for Nicholas, giving up his
old life is not that big of a hardship. Using skills learned at college and his turns into
society, Nicholas has big ideas for the crew, and his desirable captain.
As the crew slowly begins to accept Nicholas as a member, he develops a plan for a
bigger score than anyone thought possible. For Emma though, it all hinges on letting
Nicholas get much closer to her than she thinks she can handle. Working together, the
privateers are gambling their freedom for a big score. Entering into dangerous waters
and facing the British may be more than they can handle. When Nicholas' family gets
involved, the stakes for he and Emma become even higher.
I have always been a fan of the history of privateers, so I was interested in this book
from the beginning. Given that The Lucifer has a special hatred for the British made And
A Star to Steer Her By a unique and very interesting story. While I enjoyed the
outstanding sex in the story, the adventure part of the story is equally outstanding! The
plotlines are deeply and fully developed with excellent backdrops of local gossip and
betrayal. All the interactions are wonderful for the setting and make this book a real
keeper.
