Lance Rocket is a pirate by necessity, forced to accept less lucrative jobs
because he is unable to afford a confederate license.  One job requires he drop off
cargo on ASTEROID 6969, a mine-pocked piece of rock abandoned by the
confederacy and a favorite hang out for all the dregs of space.  There, he meets Heidi
and she changes his life.

Heidi was born and raised on ASTEROID 6969 where her father worked in the
mines until his death.  After her mother’s death a month later, she finds herself an
orphan at age seven.  Recruited by the Condozzi gang as a house slave, she survives
and grows until Gront the Gross notices her budding body.  Afraid and determined to
escape her servitude, she manages to find her way to a bordello called Fanny’s
Fandango House of Pleasure and Fantasy.  There, Fanny puts her to work
housekeeping and sends her to school.  After auctioning off her virginity to raise money,
she is rescued from the winner by a blonde Adonis.

Lance and Heidi embark on a journey of discovery, growth and love.  Unbeknownst to
them, Gront the Gross has a score to settle and a forgotten foe will reappear.  Will
Lance and Heidi be able to overcome their obstacles and realize their dreams?

Samantha Winston has penned a tale peopled with soft-hearted pirates, evil
gangsters and a motherly madam.  The pace varies, while the motivations become
clear in time.  The situations are so believable, I got caught up in the story
from page one.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
