After losing her husband and two children to the plague, Lady Joanna De Poitou
has quite a few problems on her hands.  Learning how to rule Lynnwood Manor
and its surrounding village takes up most of her time.  When thieves brazenly
strike in broad daylight, putting the village children in harm's way, she is
forced to take drastic measures.  Amid the grumbling male citizens who thought
she could not possibly make wise decisions, she decides to seek out and hire a
mercenary whose skill is fabled to be swift and ruthless.

Logan Grimm, mercenary for hire, has a hard and fast rule not to work for
women, so when Harold, Lady Lynnwood’s emissary offers work, he turns him down.
Determined to obey the lady’s wishes, Harold convinces Logan to check out
Lynnwood Manor, the surrounding village and offer security suggestions.  With no new
offers awaiting him, Logan decides to take Harold up on his
offer, thinking a few days in the countryside would do him some good.

When Logan arrives at Lynnwood Hall, he encounters Ivy and is instantly
charmed by the precocious youngster who is Lady Joanna’s one remaining daughter.
He investigates the thefts and Joanna tries to contend with the villagers. They both
ponder the growing affection and respect that is developing between them, all the while
keeping a respectful distance, until one day Joanna gives in to her heart's desire and
Logan cannot deny his love any longer.

Ms. Anton’s At Her Service tells a medieval tale of love and chivalry.
