Urbane Fantasy Romance
Rating: 4 Cups
Catherine Kathleen Crawfield is known as Catherine to her mother, Cat to the team, Red Reaper to the undead; but to Bones. . .she is Kitten. When it comes to work matters, she is in charge with the team, but in personal vampire matters, Bones outranks her by more than two centuries.
Bones joined the team three months ago and knows there are conditions to follow. He does not like for Cat to become prey to danger. They are married in the vampire life but would like to give her the real type of wedding she deserves.
Cat has faced some scary sights when she comes up against vampires and ghouls especially with her cover being blown. As second in command, Tate Bradley informs Cat this is the third time she has been recognized. When Tate decides he wishes to be turned into a vampire, Cat is confused since he hates them. When things grow dangerous for Cat; they choose another female to play bait. At the mention of Belinda, Cat is not sure how Belinda will work out. Even though Belinda is a strong vampire, she is a murderer. Not only does Belinda share a history with Bones, but she tried to kill her. With Cat watching her back and Tate desiring to be a vampire, will Bones be able to keep her safe this time?
At Grave's End is a page-turner. The audience is quickly thrown into the action and intrigue that weaves a magnificent cast keeping the reader guessing. There were moments that stand out but the one I enjoyed the best was when Bones called Cat's mother to say he was going to officially marry her daughter. The whole scene was truly satisfying. The tension between Cat and Belinda is nail-biting as they both practically pounce on the other. Jeaniene Frost cleverly pens a tale that captivates. She cast a powerful hero with Bones who goes beyond his duty to protect Cat. This forceful read sweeps the reader into a romance that comes alive.
