Five years ago, Jessica Carter was involved in a diving accident.  After a five year
hiatus from diving because of it, a recurring and haunting nightmare continues.  Part of
the dream is the subsequent rescue from the accident by a mysterious stranger with
aquamarine eyes.  To clear her head, she rides her bicycle along the Lake Okeechobee
levee.  Taking in the severely drought-lowered lake bed, she spies an imperfect,
geometrically-shaped lump of dried mud.  Being an accomplished archaeologist, she
instantly recognizes this could possibly be a pyramid.  Not wanting to jump to
conclusions, she dismisses it at first and attributes it to her fatigue, but as a scientist,
with the typical curiosity that goes along with being a scientist, she investigates and
unearths a history changing discovery.

Xerxes Kallias, High Lord of Atlantis is that aquamarine-eyed stranger.   Having
watched over Jessica since that fateful day long ago, he recognizes the shape as the
fabled western entrance to the lost continent of Atlantis. Fearing detection and exposure
after six thousand years of peace beneath the ocean waves, he concocts a plan to
secure his society and its way of life, while saving the inquisitive archaeologist from
certain death at the hands of an overzealous Atlantean citizen.

This begins the exhilarating tale of Jessica and Xerxes.  Their love story encompasses
the green everglades of Florida and the murky depths of both the Atlantic and Pacific
Oceans.  Both being strong-willed individuals causes them many heated discussions
that ultimately end in passionate conclusions.

Sheila N. Eskew has written an exciting adventure, full of characters and old myths from
Greek mythology.  The pace, language and plotline all give this story an anxious quality,
encouraging the reader to discover what is going to happen next.  I love the imagery and
technology required to adequately tell this tale.
