College professor Jackson Williams is a very likeable man. He loves his job teaching, but is not happy in his marriage. However, is his marriage miserable enough for him to do the unthinkable?
Jenny Williams was a health nut. Jogged every day, ate only healthy foods, and drank only water. She had recently been taking unregulated herbal supplements called probiotics. Could her obsession with fitness be her most grievous mistake?
When Jenny’s car careens off of a cliff and her husband is charged with her murder, lawyer Stuart Ross is hired to defend him. The autopsy reveals that Jenny was poisoned. Even with the help of Jackson’s neighbor, Ruth, and his investigator, George Maynard, Stuart still has a very tough job ahead of him. To further complicate matters, Jackson’s daughter, Mara, who he has not seen since she was a small child, arrives in the hopes of getting to know her biological father. Mara also believes in his innocence and does some snooping around of her own. The defense team suspects several of Jenny’s friends and acquaintances in the small Arizona town. The murderer’s perverse mentality and motives are shockingly revealed.
A Whole New Life kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story. From the very first sentence I was hooked and sucked into the search for Jenny’s killer. The characters are so diverse and convincing, it was like watching reality unfold before my eyes. The novel is gripping and intense, which keeps the reader constantly guessing and re-guessing the identity of the killer. Ms. Thornton’s mystery is a wonderfully engaging mystery.
