Aubrianna Sheffield owns Chadwick Manor Gardens and Maze in the year 2006. She inherited the estate from her mother’s aunt. People pay money to come and visit the estate, maze and gardens. She often visits the maze for a little peace and quiet after a long day dressed in ninetieth century attire.

Lord Keane Hamilton Chadwick IV is a very handsome man who owns Chadwick Manor Estates in 1857. He is a haughty lord who does not tolerate insolence. He has dreamt of a woman for weeks and does not know what to make of it.

Aubiranna is leaving the maze at Chadwick Manor and Gardens when she trips and falls, finding a pair of skeleton keys. That is when the weather turns bad and she gets soaked by rain. She rushes to leave the maze when she runs headlong into Lord Chadwick. He demands to know who she is and what she is doing on his property. To his surprise she yells back, “It is my property!” and insists he leave. Of course, neither one of them is prepared for what is about to happen.

Beyond The Maze is a wonderful book. I felt like I had traveled back in time with Aubiranna. This is a tantalizing and passionate read. The characters and setting are well described and very realistic. I can’t wait for Ms. Brown-Porter’s next book.
