Amber Lewis has a problem. She desperately needs a job to pay for her apartment
rent, her car, and groceries. An old classmate, Jill, offers to put her up in her apartment
and hook her up with a job. Amber is excited over the prospect, until she learns she has
to use her voice for a call service where men call wanting phone sex. She cannot do
something like that. But when she becomes desperate enough to search garbage cans
for food, the phone sex job looks better by the minute. She accepts the challenge.
Ken is a private investigator with the phone sex company. When he first sees mousy
Amber, he is sure that she will never make it in the business. Six months later, he is
shocked to see the new Amber in his midst. This cannot be the mousy girl he met
months ago. But there is something that draws him closer to Amber and makes him
want to get to know her better.
This was a delightful book. I loved the characters and the way Ms. Leaf wrote the action
and banter between Ken and Amber and the secondary characters as well. This is the
first book that I have read by Lizzie T. Leaf and it promises not to be my last. She has a
way of placing an importance on each of the characters and making it a remarkable
book read by giving the reader a happy ending. She also has a way of developing a
story and making one wish to read more. This was a wonderfully written romantic
comedy. I would even like to see this made into a movie.
