Eliza is an angel, sent to earth on another assignment, but this one has a huge and unexpected twist to it. Her mission is to help a widowed father with his 6-year-old daughter and his terminally ill mother. The kicker is if she wants to be reunited with her parents in heaven, she must not fall in love with her employer and keep it on a platonic level. The problem is that Jason is drop dead gorgeous and a great person to boot.

Jason Abbott is a contractor trying to raise his young daughter Angel by himself and take care of his dying mother. He puts an ad in a local paper and Eliza interviews and attains the position of nanny and care provider for his family. His problem is he is starting to fall for this person who has brought him back to life.

Eliza was made an angel when she, along with her parents, were killed in an accident. Since then she now helps families deal with terminally ill patients to cross over and ease the suffering of those left behind. Jason has already lost his father and his wife to death, now he faces losing his mother during the holidays and needs Eliza to help him. He was a man still obsessed by his dead wife and would not even think of another woman in his life until Eliza entered his home, his heart and even taught him to trust and love again.

Alright, I am going to admit right now, that this is an absolute tearjerker of a tale; it is also the best story I have read of this kind ever. A heartwarming, heart wrenching and at the same time heartfelt tale of mixed emotions. This deals with families living with the terminally ill and forced to face everyday living. For me this brought someone very near and dear to me that I lost 2 years ago, my own mother. I highly recommend this book to anyone, it is a very inspired and enriching tale of love and support and how we sometimes turn away from others when tragedy strikes. The book is riveting from the first page to the last with unexpected delights in between, showing us we can face what life throws at us, even death and be okay after all. This will leave you wondering if there really are angels among us and that our prayers to God might be answered after all, just not the way you expected.
