Ilida Davis is a recreational therapist working for the last five years with teenagers whose troubles are substance abuse related. She is also an empath and has recently been plagued with intense headaches because of her gift. She picks up on many people around her and cannot shield, alas she picks up on Daedalus.
Daedalus Sqourakis is someone you do not want to meet in the dark of night if you can help it. He is a trained assassin and also brother to the King of Vampires. He is the Vampire Prince and Enforcer, who also happens to be a werebat-vampire.
Ilida and Daedalus meet in person only after they had met telepathically. Ilida is a strong telepath, but she had not known of others that could link and talk to her until she reached out and found Daedalus and his pain. The death of his daughter brought the two of them together in more ways than one. Unfortunately, now it is up to Daedalus to protect Ilida since someone is out to get all who are close to him and kill them.
I had no idea coming in to this second novel in the series if I could pick it up easily. I am happy to say this is a stand alone book and was very easy to follow. The previous story is told along with it in passages and I enjoyed it immensely. This has all the action, adventure, and suspense for most paranormal and vampire lovers. I liked that this book covers a family of vampires; those from before, the current couple, and a taste of the one that we hope will have his story next. I have to say this was a refreshing and different tale and enjoyed it very much.
