Lilly Dumont is a tough woman who, when she was younger, left her old life behind and built a new one. She is now successful and happy but something is missing from her current relationship and she cannot seem to figure out how to fix it. Lily is in for a big surprise when an old friend shows up on her doorstep. But is she ready for it?

Ty Benson always wondered what happened to his best girl, Lilly. He is a strong man who built walls up around his heart and never thought he would someday revisit his past. Ty needs someone to break through those walls and his best friend Hunter thinks he knows who can do it, but Ty just refuses to believe him.

Lilly’s uncle Mark decides that ten years is long enough to wait for Lilly after her disappearance and decides to have her declared legally dead. Ty will not stand for it and decides he will find Lilly. But will Lilly be willing to come back and claim her inheritance, or will she just push him away? He does not have an answer. All he knows is that she is alive and he must find her. Lilly is as settled as she can be in her new life when Ty shows up at her door and her whole world falls apart. Is she tough enough to go back to Hawken’s Cove and face the man she hates?

Carly Phillips shows real emotion in this story. The past can come back to haunt us, but Lilly realizes there is nothing else she can do. Ty and Lilly revisit their feelings for each other and discover there is so much more between them than they ever thought possible. The passion heats up between them, but will they get burned? Lilly has to overcome a lot and I found it amazing that she was not torn completely apart. She found her friendships with Ty and Hunter renewed and made a new friend in Molly.
