Parris “Perry” L’Engle is an experienced agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Minneapolis. Her mother is also the director of the branch office there. She is finding out the past is revisiting her like a nightmare because of her son Danny.

Roan Emory is a Network operative and fifth in command out of the Chicago office in charge of the teams and their covert missions. He is also former agent Daniel Sands, father to Danny and the man Perry loved and lost so long ago in a staged death.

Perry is devastated that the organization that tried to recruit Daniel is now after their son Danny, especially since she believes he might be alive and taken against his will. Roan is the top agent the Network has ever had, including a difficult eight year undercover operation. That is until they try to recruit Danny and he is confronted with Perry for the first time since he was taken. Grateful that Roan ‘Daniel” is alive, Perry must join with him to help save their son. Adding to this is stopping a terrorist group from bombing the country and trying to free Roan from the Network forever.

This made me wonder about ‘white hats’ and good or evil agencies. With Roan as a killing machine I found that he did have his soul after all so family and love came through to save him. I find that sometimes the end should not justify the means if it costs innocent lives. This is a telling story that shows us just what our government agencies might be doing and it is a very scary thought. It also makes me think about all our brave men and women that serve to protect us in the military and for the government. And the price that may cost them their loss of family, friends, trust, emotion and even self to get the job done.
