Tobias has lived his life according to a certain set of rules. He knows what he likes in life relaxation, enjoyment, and pleasure. After the celebration of his forty first birthday, Tobias returns to a club catering to his specific needs. While enjoying a moment of relaxation, he is introduced to a submissive that intrigues him beyond what he has ever encountered.
Noah is a man with strong convictions and dedications. He knows he is a submissive and needs a dominating force in his life to bring out his hidden wants. After a terrible experience and memories he does not care to explore, Noah comes face to face with an infamous name and Dom, Tobias. Tobias is well known for his talents and passions, the precise thing Noah has been searching for.
The combination of work between Chris Owen and Jodi Payne, Deviation: Submission is a rather unique book. Unlike most BDSM books, the underlying theme of trust is the central core of this book. Noah is a man that has been abused enough in his past that he knows how to shield himself. Tobias is a man that will not allow love, in any shape or form, to deviate his life. When these two men come together they form their own bond, their own relationship. With each session, each encounter Noah's longing for Tobias deepens. With each dark secret the pair reveals, another fragile thread weaves between them strengthening their relationship. Tobias, though he has always kept himself at a distance, uncovers Noah is the constant force he needs in his life.
Deviations: Submission is a BDSM book, and it is not recommended for those light of heart. Since the elements of BDSM are used in a more cathartic and releasing part of the story, it makes many of the scenes between Noah and Tobias much more accepting and realistic. There is an excellent development of characters by the authors Chris Owen and Jodi Payne. Aside from the warning comments, I found this book to be endearing and touching. There is a special touch in this male male relationship between the two lead characters. The combination of BDSM, with intriguing and underlying romance, but more important the realness of both characters, makes this story not only genuine but touching and memorable for this reviewer.
