Sam Casey can talk to the dead; her Native American background and psychic abilities have helped her in her career as a homicide detective. Being a wife and mother has not dimmed her ability.

Jake Mitchell, the detective in charge, as usual has to juggle his investigative skills with the spiritual talents of his wife and her family. It is hard to go by the book with this bunch.

When a cache of bones turns up on a construction site, initially it is thought that they have uncovered a Native American burial ground. It becomes evident that all of the bones are not ancient, and Sam Casey must solve a much more recent death.

This is a very interesting series, full of psychic and Native American nuances. The author truly paints a picture with her descriptions, I felt like I was at the construction site in the early scenes. Sam and Jake are well developed characters with very interesting interactions. Abby and Alex are also very well done and I had no problem disliking Mr. Breyton or his men. The author tells a great mystery story that will keep the reader interested from beginning to end and I will definitely look for more of this series in the future.
