Jemma works at a bookstore. Every night she walks through Hyde Park in hopes of seeing the handsome man she is attracted to and hoping he feels the same. It is a harmless fantasy.

Mason has definitely noticed Jemma, but he is only human during the night hours. A guardian by night he actively defends his area from evil, he spends his days as a grotesque, a guardian gargoyle, silently watching over his section of the city.

The Guardians have long watched over Sydney. Mason meets Jemma when he saves her from a Chimera attack. To prevent other attacks he must ask the woman he loves to be bait for his trap.

This is an interesting tale and I enjoyed it, but for some reason it just did not hold my attention. There did not seem to be any real chemistry between the two main characters. Jemma seems to suffer an awful lot of head trauma in this story. It would be no wonder if she thought she was seeing things. The chimera, however were extremely scary and will make you think twice about walking in the park after dark. The climax of this story was very exciting and well written and makes the whole story.
