Growing up, Halloween was not the exciting holiday for Misty that it is for most kids; the masks made her feel claustrophobic and the other costumes scared her. It is with great trepidation that Misty visits a costume store with her best friend Tammy. Misty is required to attend the annual Halloween party for the mortgage company she works for, so, stalling, she finds nothing to her taste until a woman helps her to choose the costume of an angel.
A beautiful angel costume prods Misty to have her hair done, something she has not tried since graduating high school and to make a few other changes she has never had the desire to make. Why is she so concerned about her appearance now?
At the party she is intrigued by a man who appears to be watching her yet looks familiar. When she is asked to dance it furthers her interest in knowing who the mystery man may be. Will the magic end at the unmasking or will it last for much longer?
Halloween Angel is a smooth and sweet story that is all about the “what-ifs” we tend to ask ourselves. Misty struck a chord with me as she has always been considered a “plain Jane” and didn’t try to improve upon her looks because of past disappointments. Her story is a sad one, but enlightening at the same time. She gets the extra push she needs through a costume to get out there and try to find what is missing in her life. The suspense is very well presented. Masked participants, mystery men and women, all contribute to make this a short but sweet holiday story. I am heartily impressed by this author and look forward to reading her other titles.
