Tracey has always been practical. She runs a museum that is her life and her heritage.
Tracey has never felt obligated in running the museum. The loneliness of her life weighs
heavily on her and this is the reason she agrees to marry Scotty.
Scotty, Steven Clay Tockterman, is a pilot with the Coast Guard. His family was
disappointed that he did not want to go into the family business. He never expects to
become serious with anyone because the last woman he was involved with wanted him
for his family’s money until he meets Tracey.
After knowing Scotty for two months, she agrees to marry him. That same afternoon
Scotty dies trying to save a family when their car lands in the Sacramento River. She
decides to mail the engagement ring to Scotty’s father, along with the newspaper
clippings and a letter of condolence a week after Scotty disappeared into the River. A
week later, Tracey arrives home to find it ransacked. But then the real Scotty arrives
after Tracey’s letter is received by his father, wanting to know what kind of scam she
was pulling. Can Tracey find the truth about Steve and Scotty? Can Steve find out why
he was being impersonated and why Tracey is having a streak of bad luck?
Heart’s Home is a good solid story with characters that have to face their fears and
overcome them. Tracey learns that the security of her home does not matter as much as
following her heart. Steve is the alpha male when it comes to Tracey and past hurts will
not keep him from having what he wants which is Tracey. Ms. Barton has created a story
that will entertain the reader with a few laughs to break the serious moments.
