Dr. Sophie Harrison is enraged to find that a very qualified friend has been passed over for a promotion to the position of Directory of Surgery, and she is sorely disappointed because she was in line to get the vacated spot. Her friend Guy takes the news well, but Sophie is in a bigger huff when she learns who got the job. Baron Rupert Charles Radley, not just a surgeon, but a Lord. Sophie is certain he got the promotion based only on his “regal” credentials. She is determined to make his transition to the team less than easy. In her opinion, people should earn their way, not buy into it because they are rich and famous. Her point of view changes quickly when she finds she cannot deny the attraction she feels for the handsome Baron/Doctor.
Dr. Radley is handsome, tall, dark, and usually seen with a good-looking woman in tow when his picture is splashed across local media. He has no idea of what is in store for him when he crosses paths with Dr. Harrison. Her past has taught her to distrust the upper class, and Charles has to convince her that he is more than just a Baron—he is a doctor and a good man.
I found Dr. Harrison to be quite the spunky, intelligent woman who is out to right all wrongs. I want a friend just like her, and I would not mind a Dr. Radley in my life either. The determination of both characters propels the story forward and keeps you turning pages until the end.
Her Celebrity Surgeon is a quick, enjoyable read. Ms. Hardy makes the characters very believable and has a talent for drawing the reader’s emotions into play. If you are looking for entertainment, romance, and a good way to spend an afternoon, this is it. I cannot wait to read Ms. Hardy’s other two books in this “Posh Doc” series.
