Julia Sullivan has just moved to Haven after inheriting an old house from her Aunt Miriam. Little did she know when she filed for divorce and moved to the shore she would end up finding a real home here. While cleaning out the house of all the junk, her soon-to-be-ex, Patrick, shows up on her doorstep.

Patrick Sullivan is a Chicago lawyer and is not giving up on his wife without a fight. Armed with the divorce papers to be signed he tries a last ditch effort to have her come back to him. Now determined, he takes a leave of absence and decides to help her fix up the house including re-roofing it for her.

Julia and Patrick are stuck together when he falls while fixing the roof. She lets him move in while he recuperates and decides to give love a chance again. Trouble erupts with a bang, from arson, to burglary and even attempted murder. Patrick decides that protecting his wife is more important to him than his job. If he had not come to save her from drug dealers and worse he would be devastated.

This was a one sitting book for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense, romance and the even the whodunit. Take an inherited house, a husband that will not give up, a little old lady and slim shady characters to spice up your reading. This has enough intrigue to keep you entertained including a femme fatal co-worker, shyster lawyer and a drug dealer nephew. This showed me that love can make you rethink your life and your priorities. The ending is encouraging and that no matter what, if you want to make love work you can do it.
