Dr. Leah Dawson loves her job, enabling couples to fulfill their dream of becoming
parents. This is a blessing since she is unable to carry a baby full term. Of course when
her senior partner dies she is not overly pleased that she is left to work with a new
person. She is sure the promotion is hers, until it is given to another doctor. Once she
and David begin working together, they form a deeper relationship, but when she learns
she is pregnant, will it be something that David truly wishes to hear?
David French is eager to begin a new job and try to forget a haunting past. Even though
it had only been a year, the nightmare and loss are still there. He has excellent skills and
always takes special care of his patients, but when he meets Leah, there is a special
feeling that he cannot erase. He wants her near always, yet at times fear stops him from
getting too close. He wonders what is the matter with him. Can he finally allow the past
to rest so he can begin a future with Leah before it is too late?
His Unexpected Child is such a tenderhearted book. The story flows smoothly and the
characters are well fitted. You can imagine the hurt on David’s face when he is telling
Leah about his son, Simon, and you could practically see the empathy on hers. It is such
a remarkably touching scene. If any two characters belong together, it is Leah and
David. They touched my heart completely. Their dialogue, along with the story, is easy to
follow.
Josie Metcalfe has penned a fabulous read with heart and determination. Her quality in
writing shows with this book. She has taken a story about people with real conflicts in
their life and created a perfect blending of words. This was a book I thoroughly enjoyed
reading.
