Now Kelly is dead, she died in a motorcycle accident with a logging truck. So Shane has left the home they had and took off on his motorcycle going anywhere and no where.
Tia is a Native American, she lost her husband Danti a few years ago, and is now about to marry Raven. That is their way, her father Grey Owl is the chief, and when widows have not produced a child they are re-married after a length of time. Even though this is modern times, they still stick with the old ways. Tia does not like Raven he is a hard man, but she will do as her father wishes. When Tia meets Shane, she knows his heart is heavy also, and both Tia and Shane form a friendship.
When Kelly had died that day in the crash, Shane had seen a man wearing a hat walk over and put a bell on Shane's bike, then disappear. Now driving on the road, this man kept appearing out of nowhere saying things Shane did not understand. As he kept traveling down the road, Shane would hear different tales about the bell. Then Shane came across this Indian village and asked to spend the night, the Chief made a deal, if Shane teaches him to ride the motorcycle he could spend the night. Shane and Tia became close friends, and he thinks it is wrong for her to marry against her will. Shane finds himself competing for Tia's freedom, Shane was happy until he learns a secret that the Chief and family have been holding.
Wow, what a wonderful emotional and spiritual story. Ms. Laudan, did an outstanding job in creating this story and the characters. Each character has their own history and depth which brings in more to the story. Splendidly described, you can almost see the landscape that the author talks about, and learn little bits about the "ironhorse". This is a fabulous story with warm love scenes tender emotions that this reader truly enjoyed.
