C.D. Ledbetter’s latest novel JINGLE OF COINS is a really clever romantic suspense
that borders on “noir” pulp-fiction.
Emily Sane’s special effects career is about to take off when a devastating car wreck
leaves her out of work and unable to tolerate loud noises. The damage does have one
favorable outcome; Emily’s reaction to sound allows her to detect changes in pitch of
slot machines. As Emily tries for the big payoff, she must deal with Glen, a gorgeous
hot blackmailer, a high price call girl neighbor, inept Secret Service agents, and ugly
crime bosses.
It is to Ms Ledbetter’s credit that she can keep the many characters and numerous sub-
plots fresh, unpredictable, and quick. JINGLE OF COINS is definitely more suspense
than romance, but is wildly entertaining. This is a great book for curling up on a quiet
evening with a good cup of coffee. A mystery with the right amount romance and
sneaky characters that was a fun read, and one you will recommend to your friends.
