Jon Rush is a business-oriented man trying to discover what is happening to the company his father built, and does not have much of a social life. He is not looking for anyone special, but when he sees a woman who takes his breath away, he feels he must meet her no matter what.

Lauren Stephens loves her art more than anything. She also cherishes her friendships and looks after them. She wants more out of her life, but has a difficult time trusting men. Maybe, if the right one came along, she would give him a chance, but meeting a man is not on her agenda.

When Lauren spotted the latecomer to the town meeting, she could not take her eyes off him, and Jon found himself eyeing the woman who kept staring at him. Then, when he cornered her after the meeting, he ended up giving her a ride home. Kissing her at her door that same night is a mistake, but no woman has ever captured his heart so quickly. Lauren is not one to kiss strangers, but there is something about Jon. Her phone is constantly ringing with no one on the line and she begins to wonder if she should tell Jon. Or, would she be safer if no one knew?

Ringing phones and the feeling of being watched makes Lauren jumpy. Yet Jon is there for her and takes care of her needs. She wants more and hopes he will be able to fulfill that. The story, full of secrets, passions, and stubborn heads that will not let hearts prevail, is impressive and only a great storyteller like Ms. Grace could write it. I have never known a story to captivate me as this one has. I enjoyed every page of this story!
