The woman who rescued April Worth long ago is in big trouble and she does not know where to turn for help. Desperate, she goes to the one person left who could help them. But the lie she must tell might keep him from doing the right thing.
Joe Worth’s mother abandoned him long ago, so when his so-called long lost sister shows up at his office door looking like a living dream, he knows it is probably more like a nightmare come to life. Why should he get involved with the woman his mother kept when she left him behind?
April owes Phyllis Worth her life and will do anything to help her. When she finds out she is in trouble she hunts down Phyllis’s son Joe and tries to use the family ties that bind to get him involved. But when he digs deeper, he finds out the truth. April is not who she seems, and she and Phyllis are in much more danger than they know. A powerful man is desperate to keep both of them buried deep in the past and will do whatever it takes to make sure his deeds never see the light of day. Joe has to set aside his bitter feelings about Phyllis’s abandonment to get to the bottom of who is after her and April and his very real sister Cornelia before it is too late for all of them. In the midst of it all, he and April are drawn into an explosive romance that neither are sure will last or if they will even survive long enough to try to make it work.
April, Phyllis, and Cornelia are some of the quirkiest, most realistic women I have ever read about. Joe was besieged and I had the idea he loved every minute of it just like I did. The difference between them and the villains was marked and made for a great contrast, but was sometimes a little jarring. Q was cold and sadly compelling as the bad guy. Mercy and Charity were some of the best bad girls ever. April is strong and confident despite what happened in her past. Flakey showgirl Phyllis was a wonderfully wounded angel of a showgirl. Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye is a wonderful read full of humor, gut twisting action, and steamy romance.
