Michaela Doucet was raised in the Louisiana Bayou and recently learned werewolves lived among them, some good, others evil. As the owner of a boutique, her life is about to take a serious turn.

Brody Carter does not like cities. They have a way of frustrating the wolf in him, and placing him on edge. Then again so does being around Michaela but as a Bloodrunner she needs his protection.

Michaela is shocked when a good friend is attacked by werewolves. Then hearing she is in danger, and Brody will protect her, brings out her feelings for the handsome man. She wonders why he continues to close out any sensations. Brody knew the Cajun woman had a way to sear his heart. He knew women as beautiful as Michaela never gave guys like him a second chance, let alone a first. Forcing back any feelings for her, his first concern is to safeguard her from the Lycans out to destroy her. It is hard lasting a day away from her. With her powers and talents, he would love nothing more than to understand her. Deep down he is certain she is his true mate. He would do anything to be in her heart, mind and soul, but there is so much about him that he feels Michaela would not understand. Michaela knows he is a man not to make mad, but with each day, they are more drawn to the other. Time is of the essence if Brody wishes to keep her safe.

I was so consumed in Last Wolf Watching that the next thing I knew it was over. Michaela and Brody leave great impact with their emotions and the feelings that transpire between them. The way Brody does not wish to open up to Michaela really captures the story. I love their immediate connection to the other. Rhyannon Byrd once again pens a tale that sends riveting chills of delight down the reader. I love the way she mixes in all the secondary characters making the storyline fast-paced action. She really gives believable life to Brody while enhancing the read with suspenseful twists and turns that enthrall all the way to the end.
