Rafe, consort to the Queen of Morevi, finds adjusting to his new life rather difficult. Once a sea Captain and privateer for England, he is now in the position that leaves him both frustrated and determined to prove his place beside Askana. If this were not hard enough, his six-year old daughter refuses to acknowledge him, something he desires with his whole heart.

Askana, Queen of Morevi, must deal with the game; shifting loyalties and an impending war with the elves. Her love for Rafe is honest but she cannot give him the one thing he wants - marriage. Men shall never again hold a position of power within Morevi. Required to journey between her world and Rafe’s in search of allies, she will discover a strength that she had forgotten within the soft confines of the palace walls.

Winning her throne in a rebellion is one thing; keeping it will prove a new challenge for Askana. Secrets, shifting loyalties, and war will test Askana and her Outlander consort Rafe as they seek out new allies beyond the Rift - before both worlds descend into a bloody war no one can win.

Mr. Morris’s world building skills shine in this sequel to “Morevi, The Chronicles of Rafe and Askana”, which I have not had the pleasure to read. Nor did I need to as the talented balance in events from the first book was woven into this continuing story to create a rich tapestry of believability. The plot, language, and characters are fascinating and engaging, drawing this reader in. Fans of epic fantasy with historical detailing will find
themselves transported to another world. I wish Mr. Morris continued success with the Morevi books.
