Reverend Marshall Cline has done his best to be a good father and a good minister to his congregation. He holds secrets inside that he knows will cause both his daughters and his congregation to lose faith in him. He knows that Catherine Grace will leave the nest even though he does not want her to. He gives Catherine the freedom to make her own choices and prays they are not the wrong ones.

Catherine and her sister believe their mother died when they were young. When they get older, they realize their father is in love with their Sunday school teacher but he never marries her and the girls do not know why. On her eighteenth birthday, Catherine Grace leaves Ringgold for Atlanta and soon lands her dream job. But all her dreams come crashing down when she learns of her father's death and has to return home. Upon returning to Ringgold and learning the truth of things, will she stay or will she run back to Atlanta to escape yet again?

I enjoyed this book immensely. Reading this touching story by Ms. Gilmore had me laughing, crying and hurting for her characters. There were times I did not understand why Catherine chose to act the way she did, but by the end of the book I understood. This book will make you question things you more than likely have not thought about. I am happy to say that Susan Gregg Gilmore has earned an avid fan because of her first novel. I am anticipating her next novel and cannot wait to read it.
