Nadia Stafford is a wilderness lodge proprietor who moonlights as a hitman to keep the lodge open. Killing traitors for a small New York crime family comes in handy to help supplement her income. One could say she has a strange alliance with risk.

Quinn met Nadia six months ago. He really does not need the money to work. Instead he likes to find a way of immersing himself in a justice system he believes does not work well.

Nadia is known by her current employees as only, Dee. She likes sharing walks with Quinn and enjoys his company. Just when she thinks he is going to take their relationship up a notch, he is called out of town on a job. After going to the lodge to check on things, Nadia learns Sammi and her baby, Destiny are missing. Nadia hired Sammi because she needed work. Now they are missing and she must find them. Along with her mentor, Jack, they follow every trail looking for answers. Who would possibly want Sammi and Destiny, and why? With Jack by her side, turning over every stone, and Quinn tying up all loose ends, will Nadia find Sammi before time runs out?

Made To Be Broken is fast-paced action where intensity runs high especially when Nadia is on the hunt for Sammi. I love the premise of the storyline even though I am not too keen on killing people in cold blood by working for her crime family, but Nadia, Quinn and Jack try to find a way to eliminate scum. The attention-grabbing characters, especially Jack, with his enigma character, and Quinn with his oozing personality, really complement the story. The trio knows how to work on a case, producing thrills and chills. Kelly Armstrong writes an invigorating tale that brings pragmatic people and events that are often in the news. She knows how to pen a powerful read from beginning to end.
