Linden Bay Romance
Rating: 4 Cups
Cherry Blossom, an intelligent and beautiful southern lady, finds herself in the position of mail-order bride. When she arrives in Texas to meet her groom, she expects to meet a plain-looking farmer. Instead, the man who she is marrying is not the man who has sent for her, but a handsome well-to-do businessman.
Chadwick Hamilton, saloon owner and recreational gambler, needs a respectable wife, and soon. He is about to strike a business deal with a very important businessman, Nicholas Fulton, who fully expects Chad to be living a stable life, which includes being married and settled. So Chad sets out to find his bride through a game of cards.
Chad and Cherry clash right away. They have completely opposing views about various issues, including the role of women, and Cherry is not afraid to let her opinions be known. Despite her reservations, she agrees to play the perfect hostess to the Fultons. Chad cannot resist Cherry’s beauty, and soon they fall in love. It is perfect, until a secret comes between them that can destroy their happiness.
Barri Bryan’s novel is both refreshing and entertaining. The characters are vibrant and realistic, and the “wild west” setting is classic. Readers will enjoy the likeable hero and spunky heroine. Mail Order Bride is a sweet, yet lively, tale of love and forgiveness that will satisfy the romantic part of all of us, while leaving the reader breathless with a sigh of pleasure.
