Scott Clarkson recently moved to Calgary from the small town where he grew up. He is looking to start his life over again. Scott is at a party at the house of a man that he is involved with when he unexpectedly runs into Kate Foley, a girl that he had a huge crush on in high school. Kate has always been completely out of his league, except for a few precious moments when she seemed to be interested in him.

Kate Foley was always one of the most popular girls in high school. Scott idolized her. When she is introduced to Scott she does not even recognize him. He is not surprised by this turn of events, and in fact it seems to be the only possible outcome. Scott agrees to walk Kate home, even though she still does not remember him.

Scott figures that he will never see Kate again. He is flabbergasted when he hears that not only did she remember him but she wants to see him again. He soon realizes that there is much more to Kate than he ever realized. This one meeting sets in motion a series of events that Scott never expected, and is not sure he knows how to handle.

No Chinook by K. Sawyer Paul is a touching and beautifully written novel. I loved the main character of this story because I identified with him. I really enjoyed following Scott on his journey of self-discovery. This novel is filled with interesting and well-developed secondary characters as well. The author’s witty use of dialogue and powerful descriptions drew me in from the beginning. The plot is captivating and has plenty of surprises. I think everyone will find a little bit of themselves in this story, I certainly did.
