| ON THE WINDS OF LOVE LORI LEIGH ISBN: 0-09770107-7-5 November 2005 Vintage Romance Publishing www.vrpublishing.com E-Book / Trade Paperback $6.95 CD-$8.95 / $15.95 298 Pages Historical Romance Rating: Lissette, Duchesse of Meret, is the niece of the King of France. She is engaged to the Baron of Normandy and is in love with him, despite the fact that her father essentially sold her to him. She has not seen him in several years and has been confined to a strict school where she is isolated, although protected, from the chaos brewing from the upcoming revolution. When her father sends for her, she hopes that the marriage she has been awaiting for so long is finally to take place. Girard, Baron of Normandy, has been accused of being a pirate and his father has been imprisoned in the Bastille on the orders of his fiancée’s family. He is told that Lissette is to marry an English Earl. He was in love with Lissette, but feels betrayed and wishes revenge on her and all of her family. When she falls into his hands, he plans to disgrace her. When the two finally get together they find that the attraction they had is still there, but there is no trust on Girard’s part. He lies to her and fools her into a sham marriage as part of his plan. Even when Lissette is instrumental in saving his friends, his father, and himself; he cannot bring himself to trust her. She has to suffer unspeakable things to win him over. This is a very fast moving and exciting novel. Lissette is a very sympathetic heroine, and Girard is very attractive, if very misguided. The supporting characters are very well drawn, as is the atmosphere. The reader will feel like she is in pre-Revolutionary France for a short time.
