Shy Ainsley Delacorte prefers to stay away from anything unfamiliar. She is constantly trying to keep her mother and her sister calm and is always willing to help other people, but she must know them first. Trusting others is not easy for her. As for giving her heart away, Ainsley must know the other person well, and marriage to a total stranger is unthinkable.

Desmond Rawlington is fighting battles that his grandfather started many years ago. He hates secrets and lies, but that is what he does best, though certainly not by his choice. Agreeing to an arranged marriage is the last thing he wants but is the only way he can get the results he is looking for. He never figures what his new wife will do to him.

Taking her sister’s place in an arranged marriage is the last thing Ainsley wants to do, but does not have much of a choice since her sister ran off. Desmond, furious with being played a fool, accepts Ainsley. When his stress level gets to Desmond, he seeks the same solution his father always did. Ainsley is devastated to learn that Desmond drinks the way her father drank. Everything falls apart when Ainsley finds a note that could be treasonous to the crown. Can Desmond gain her trust back or will she turn him in?

Ainsley runs from her problems, never understanding that she can stand up for herself. Desmond just wants to get his task accomplished, never thinking he would fall in love with his new bride. The passion they share is sizzling. It is even better since they are not expecting it to happen. Ms. Williamson put a passion to the page that exploded and left me fanning my face.
