Lanie Weber is used to being in the line of fire. Even though she is a librarian; she is
also a volunteer firefighter and has seen much in her life. When her father is killed, she
heads off to the Amazon rainforest to investigate. What she finds there should only
belong in the darkest of nightmares, yet it is very real. Her companion is a veteran pilot
who is also sexier than sin. She cannot help but be attracted to him despite the
precarious situation in which they find themselves.

When Mac Knight agrees to fly Lanie in to her father's secret research lab, he has no
idea just exactly what is waiting for them. Their trip to the jungle changes his life in totally
unexpected ways. As he and Lanie investigate the situation, Mac becomes more and
more taken with the beautiful librarian, and will do anything to protect her.

Lanie and Mac are enchanting characters who are obviously perfect for each other.
Their relationship progresses at a realistic pace. The bond that develops between them
is easily visible and heartwarming. The love scenes are well written and befitting to the
storyline. The secondary characters are well rounded and an integral part of the story.
Lance Burton is a villain who is easy to dislike. Dr. Weber is a gentle scientist who has
been put in an unusual and difficult situation. His love for his daughter, Lanie, is obvious
-which makes him feel very real. The jungle setting is nicely described and interesting to
read about. The plot is intriguing and kept me waiting on the edge of my seat to see
what would happen next.

Ms. Popp has penned a terrific story of vampires and legends that I thoroughly enjoyed. I
recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories of the paranormal. I am sure that
Out of the Night will remain on my keeper shelf for many years to come.
