Lily Strathmore loves working with her uncle Edward painting things he needs. She feels when she paints and right now there is nothing else to feel for. Her mother wants to see her married off and not focusing on art because she feels it is frivolous. So going along with her mother says is not easy but to go on a trip with her Uncle is her only choice. She does not like it but it might just be the one thing she regrets the most.

James Huntington has lost loves in the past and is not about to set himself up for another broken heart. Lily is all he has been looking for and more. She may be rather stubborn but James can see there is more to her than just that. He just hopes he can be worthy of her. Little does he know that he is already worthy.

Going on expeditions with her uncle and his family were the highlights for Lily. She got to go where she loved and saw new places. Her mother wanted to see her settle down but so far, she has kept her at bay till a match is named. Now the only way she can go on the next trip is to agree to marry this gentleman when she gets back. She does not remember her fiancée but the trip is too important. Agreeing to her parent’s demands may be the worst mistake but finding a rare flower and drawing it may be worth it or so she hopes. While preparing for the trip, she never knew she could find such passion in the stolen kisses she shares with James. James finds this woman alluring but something is keeping them apart and he does not know what.

Being a debut novel, I was not sure what to think. First novels can often be the most difficult ones to write. I reacted to all the emotions and could not believe all that Lily and James had to go through. I just hoped that at the end Lily would listen to her heart. Decisions were for her to make and no one else. Enjoying the travels that were taken was just one part of the appeal of this book for me. Ms. Lawson has a creative way with words that makes you wish you could be a part of the book. I am keeping an eye on this author because I want to see what comes next!
