Nell and Joe Stevens' honeymoon was to be a kayaking trip, only things go very wrong and Joe disappears. Many things he lied about are now coming to light. They search for him but he is never found, so Nell moves on with her life; raising her son and running her own River Rafting business.
The police believe Nell is the one who had a motive to kill Joe. They do not believe there was an accident. Yet several years later, the case is re-examined by a cop who is falling for Nell and is beginning to have doubts that she committed murder.
As the new investigation into the disappearance of Joe and what really happened to him continues, Nell is unsure who believes that she didn’t kill her husband and knew nothing of the life he led before he knew her. But can she convince the right people and keep from being charged with murder?
Once I got the hang of some of the rafting terminology, I enjoyed the story. It was full of suspense and excitement, engaging and educational. Lots of colorful characters contribute to the main storyline, which would be hard to tell without them. Men and women willing to take a sport to the extreme, yet respecting it enough to know when it can change with the blink of an eye and showing extreme dedication to rescue one who may have fallen prey to the water. Add a murder mystery and you have a winner of a book!
