Petite brunette Cybelle has called three friends together for a celebratory luncheon. As
she asks each one to give a toast before the meal, events from each woman’s life are
revealed. Cybelle, orphaned as a teen, is in love with her father’s best friend Mark from
college, who was entrusted with her upbringing after her parents’ deaths. She must
convince him she knows the difference between infatuation and true love.

Leatrice, Mark’s friend, is determined to win the heart of Seth, a true cowboy. She
makes a deal to prove her aristocratic upbringing is not an obstacle to their love by
living with him as his housekeeper for one year. If her plan fails, she could lose not only
her love but her ranch, as well.

Doreen, Mark’s sister, struggles with her love for a modern day chauvinist.  Although
there is passion, Doreen feels stifled in her role as wife of Esteban, a Panamanian
aristocrat. She vows to win her husband’s respect as well as his love.

Harriet, daughter of Mark’s housekeeper, Geraldine, left home to prove her
independence. After falling overboard while on a cruise, she and her rescuer Val are
stranded on a deserted island together. Having sworn off men, Harriet keeps her
distance as much as possible. Although Val is a gentleman, she knows he loves her, but
is afraid to trust her heart to him.

Ms. Freda did a spectacular job showing the intimate details of four women and their
struggle for true love. The story lines are well constructed and excellently intertwined. I
liked the unique way each character overcame the obstacles to their happiness. Each
story unfolded truthfully, and each heroine showed guts and determination to do
whatever it took to win the heart of her man. An enjoyable, inspiring read.
