Ugly duckling who has turned into a swan, Daria Wyatt is not turned on by the idea of her fifteen year high school reunion. Under pressure by her sister Kara, she finally relents. She will dazzle them all. If only she had not worn that utterly ugly pair of purple platforms with green sequins.
Greg McCauley is at the same reunion. When he realizes that this beautiful woman whom he ignores at first is Daria, his one time French tutor, Greg falls in love. It does not bother him that she has such ugly shoes. In fact, they may even add to her particular charm.
Daria is so tongue-tied by this meeting that she flees the reunion like Cinderella escaping the twelve rings of midnight. Lucky for her, though, she does not lose a shoe. Greg is determined to find her, but how will he do it? Where will he look? Until one day, fate has him meet the same pair of purple platforms again. Has he finally found Daria?
I probably did not blink once through this story. When it ended, I wanted to scream, "It cannot be over yet, can it?" Ms. Brice penned a hilarious tale with an innovative twist. Loaded with funny references pertinent to the twenty and thirty-something women of today, there were some roar out loud moments through her witty tone and sharp descriptions. The characters are nothing short of adorable. There is a bit of Daria in every woman. It was truly a delight to read.
