Harmless Pleasure

Street magician Peri is taken to the palace to demonstrate her skills for the Nirahd, ruler of her land. The Nirahd has a mysterious interest in Peri and her magic. As his prisoner, Peri wrestles both with her distress concerning the orgiastic ways of the court and her ever-growing fascination with her captor.

Peri and the Nirahd are interesting characters who are in opposition about the decadence of the palace... or are they? I found this story to be my least favorite of the three because the reading was hard going.

Dead Man's Chest

Monica is obsessed with pirates. Her habit of collecting piratical objects leads to the purchase of an ancient sea chest engraved with the name "R. Coppersword." It turns out the chest brings with it a handsome devil named Rafe who claims to be a pirate of yore visiting Monica on a "mission."

Lots of fun! The “ghost” of Rafe helps Monica learn much more about herself than just her fantasies.

Conjugals

Faedl was "conjugated" before birth; linked spiritually with her soul mate for life. But her stepfather opposes the ritual and has taught her likewise. Although haunted all her life by mysterious yearning, Faedl believes she should be free to choose her own love. She and her family ignore the fact that she is conjugated successfully, until the fateful day Faedl's Conjugal Etrae'u finds her.

This is a fascinating story and my favorite of the three. Faedl and Etrae'u discover each other and find a way to marry, and still bring acceptance within her family.

Diana Laurence's erotic paranormals are very well written. She has found a way to be graphic, yet tasteful. I plan to read more of Ms. Laurence's work and expect to enjoy it very much.
