Tina is someone is caught at the wrong place at the wrong time and it explodes in her face - literally. She wakes up one morning to find out she is now called Jade and been given a new face. All she wants to do is escape and go back home, the problem is her life is still in danger.
Saint John Kane is the person in charge of Jade as she recovers from her accident and subsequent cosmetic surgery. He is mysterious and will not give her any answers to why she is there. He is the last in a long line of Kanes in Ireland with a legend that goes with it.
Jade estranged herself from her father when he invented an undetectable bomb. The problem is everyone wants the invention and are coming after Jade to get it. Her only hope of safety is Saint John Kane, who seems to have more mysteries around him than she does. His family legend is that there is one Kane in every generation who is a gargoyle, a guardian and protector of the land they own and around the world.
This is not your usual damsel in distress because Jade fights every step of the way. Our hero is also made out of different stuff, stone and harder when need be. I liked that it started off with a bang and quickly shifted gears for Jade to face her altered reality. Jade and Saint John believe that even if the outer you has changed, inside is your core and remains constant. We are who we are inside and there is no changing that. We must accept our realities as they come to us whether facing a demon, fighting an attacker or falling in love with a gargoyle.
