| SWEET REVENGE ANTHOLOGIES MARGUERITE TURNLEY, J. M. CORNWELL, BRIDGHID PARKINSON, NANCY PIRRI, I.G. FREDERICK, HERBERT GROSSHANS, IMARI JADE, MARCELLA, LAURA BACCHI, CYNTHIA RAYNE ISBN #1-4116-5308-4 October 2005 Midnight Showcase http://www.midnightshowcase.com Ebook $7.99 114 Pages Erotic Romance Rating: Moving On by Marguerite Turnley: Susan is the unsuspecting ex-wife of a deranged and jealous man. Can she figure out she is being stalked before it is too late? From the beginning, this story pulls you in with the psychotic eye view of everything. Jerry's way of thinking is chilling and dark as he plots his ex-wife's demise. This is a story about predator and prey. The surprise is how the roles switch back and forth. Does Susan get back at Jerry for all his sins? That is for the reader to decide in this dark and fast bit of suspense with a touch of sweet revenge added in the mix. Bittersweet Memory by J.M. Cornwell: As the single mother of three boys, Lila is struggling to make ends meet. She is forced to raise them on their own with no help at all from their father. She thinks about her unhappy marriage as she makes a batch of what has to be the most luscious brownies ever. However, she adds a little extra at the end to make sure they are the last he ever has, as well. This story was the ultimate in sweet revenge without actually showing the effects of Lila's delicious brownies on her ex-husband. The story left it all to the imagination, but still manages to satisfy. Bedridden by Laura Bacchi: Chelsea is a woman scorned. Todd, her ex-boyfriend, has cheated on her, with her best friend, no less. She jumps at the chance to get back at him the best way she can. Her ex-boyfriend was in an accident which left him in traction, unable to move or even speak clearly. Chelsea has a very wicked sense of revenge. Sneaking into Todd's hospital room, she proceeds to torment him in the most seductive way she can. Chelsea gets her own revenge, but not in the way the reader thinks. Phantom Vindication by Bridghid Parkinson: Arriving at the bed and breakfast dead on her feet, Rose does not heed the clerk's warning about her room being haunted. All she wants is to rest and keep out of her husband's drunken clutches. However, once asleep, she gets a visit in the form of the handsome ghost, James. Despite the fact that he is a ghost, or perhaps because of it, he brings her more pleasure than she has ever known. With James' help, her husband will no longer haunt her life. When Maggie Loved Patrick...Then Tom by Nancy Pirri: Maggie and John are the jilted parties in the foursome in this story. When they meet at the scene of the crime of passion, so to speak, they make plans to get the ultimate revenge. An eye for an eye, or is it an affair for an affair? Neither of them suspects they may be heading in exactly the right direction they needed to go in the first place. Salt for His Wounds by I.G. Frederick: Eleanor has started over. After divorcing her husband and moving to a smaller town, she is satisfied with her new life. Even if she is lonely sometimes, that is better than living with someone you no longer love. She has friends, like her next door neighbor, a much younger man that has made his way into her fantasies. When Eleanor's ex-husband shows up on her doorstep begging for a second chance, she calls her next door neighbor for a favor, giving Mick the chance to prove he is more than a friend. The Anniversary Gift by Herbert Grosshans: Robert and Suzan have been married for quite some time. She is aware that he is cheating on her. However, she has made plans for just such an occasion. She is willing to do anything to spice up their love life, especially on their anniversary. Their house is reputed to be haunted, something Robert does not believe, but Susan does. She decides to use that to help with his infidelity. After all, a husband and wife should be faithful until death do they part. A Rose by Any Other Name by Imari Jade: On the outside, it looks like gourmet chef, Keisha has it all. She owns her own restaurant and has a handsome boyfriend. However, problems are looming beneath the surface. When she discovers that Maceio is cheating on her and not for the first time, Keisha gets fed up. She kicks him out of the house and gets on with her life. Is that revenge enough? Apparently not, for when the opportunity arises, Keisha gets back at Maceio by doing to him what he has done to her and countless other women as well. Betrayal: A Love Story by Marcella: Marcella is enjoying a drink alone in a bar when an old friend shows up. She dated Phil one time and can still remember how sweet he was. Phil, however, gives her some very disturbing news about her husband and his propensity for showing off her assets. This time he has gone too far and Marcella is up for a little sweet revenge, with Phil, who is a big surprise in more ways than one. This is a lusty romp that harkens back to the reader's teen years, and I loved it. Screwed by Cynthia Rayne: Annie is one of the best friends a woman could have. She is sweet, funny and willing to do anything to help a friend in need. Steven Monroe may be a married man, but that does not prevent him from fantasizing about other women. It is a natural thing to do. However, he has needs that his wife refuses to meet, so he must go elsewhere to find satisfaction. Annie has one thing on her mind when she goes to Steven's house while his wife is away, and that is seduction. Sweet Revenge plays to the reader's need for vengeance without the subsequent need for jail time. The stories are by turns dark, sexy, eerie, hilarious, and above all, hot. I highly recommend this book for those that like a lot of variety and spice with a lot of sweet revenge thrown in. Jenn Reviewer for Karen Talk About New Books Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance |
