Jeff feels like he has a second chance at love when Marcy, his late wife, comes to him in a dream, telling him how to find a magic ring. The ring allows Jeff to travel back in time, where he meets someone who looks exactly like Marcy. He learns that the woman is Melody, Marcy's great-great-grandmother. As Jeff begins to court Melody, he finds himself torn between the world he lives in and the past he shares with Melody.

Melody also lost her husband a few years ago and has been struggling to raise her daughter by herself. She lives with her family but dreams of one day having a place of her own, a dream she had given up until she met Jeff.

Jeff's magic ring is somehow tied to the Chicago World's Fair of 1893, and as Jeff and Melody grow closer, they worry if he will be able to continue to visit the past once the fair closes. Jeff is also being stalked by someone who knows about the ring's power and isn't afraid to murder for it. The more time Jeff spends in the past, the more he puts himself and Melody at risk, but neither of them is willing to give up the love they have found.

Tandem Tryst was a bit of a mixed read. The storyline was compelling, and I found myself wondering what would happen to Jeff and Melody when the World's Fair drew to a close. Would Jeff be able to stay in the past, or would he have to go through the pain of losing the love of his live all over again? As a result, the author succeeded in keeping my interest, despite awkward and uneven dialogue. I was also a little disappointed by how the story ended, as well as with the 'rules' that the magic ring followed. It seemed like the rules were written to fit the story, rather than the other way around.
