Scheme Tallant is the daughter of the vicious Cyrus. His goal is to eliminate the Breeds, hers to save them and destroy him and his evil plans. He has tortured and beat her since she was a child, but when he kills her unborn child and sterilizes her without her knowledge or consent, she is determined to get her revenge.
Tanner Reynolds is the public relations officer for the Breeds; his DNA genetically mutated with a Bengal tiger. He has been watching Scheme for years waiting to kidnap her but not realizing that she is his mate.
In the not too distant future, scientists try to create the ultimate soldier by mixing human and animal DNA, now these people are free but the Council is looking to recapture them. The plot this time is to kidnap the son of the Pride and cause the Breeds to retaliate.
I have been a fan of this series from the beginning and was not disappointed in this one. Ms. Leigh’s alpha males are irresistible and her heroines are very strong characters. Tanner and Scheme have both suffered and come out stronger for it and their love story was erotic and humorous at times. The return of characters from previous stories helps define the society of Sanctuary. Cabal is an enigmatic character that I would like to see more of. Ms. Leigh has created a world where genetically engineered beings fight for the right to survive. The Breeds are definitely more human than the humans of the Council.
