Maddie Campbell never meant to be a thief. After her husband was killed in the mine, with countless others, she and her daughter were left destitute with practically the clothes on their back. Now with only one way to strike back, she breaks the law to take care of those in desperate need.

Thaddeus Newlin has only thing on his mind: greed. Now he is being robbed and humiliated.

Scott McSween is a private investigator hired by Newlin to find out who is behind the robberies. He had no idea the job would bring him to a town where the widows are treated like scum nor that he would fall for Maddie and her deaf little girl.

Scott is hired to investigate some robberies. He discovers that Maddie, and many others lost their husbands in a mining accident that Newlin was responsible for. The man never kept his word about taking care of the widows. Maddie has been trying to take care of everyone. The widows must think of survival in any way possible. With Scott chasing after information, he and Maddie become closer. Now both hearts are in the crossfire when the truth unfolds.

Whoever said that western romance is dead has not read The Gate to Eden. This book is captivating and totally mesmerizing. The compelling dialogue and intense action drama unfolds making this an extraordinary read. Maddie and Scott are characters that touch the soul and never release their hold. The secondary casts of characters lend all the right elements to further enhance this dazzling read. The remarkable women are bold and strongly committed. I cannot rave enough about this book! Cathy McDavid pens an outstanding tale that leaves the reader breathless! I could not put this book down. Absolutely great to the last page!
