Aileen Slipsworthy is a children’s book author. She comes to this little beach house to
try and get over her writer’s block and to heal her heart after a breakup with her
boyfriend. She has no idea that her inspiration and the salve to heal her heart are very
close.
Mykil Votad is a vampire and he is also part of the Society that keeps things in proper
order for their kind. Having not yet found his mate, Mykil keeps busy running his
business and going through the motions. But when he goes out for a bite to eat, he finds
more than he bargained for.
Mykil finds a new neighbor close by and he decides that she will be dinner. But soon
Mykil finds Aileen is his mate. Mykil works with Aileen to show her her new powers and
how to control them. As they become close, they realize there is a rogue vampire out
there killing humans. When the rogue strikes close to home, it is time to take action.
Can Mykil and Aileen find this rogue before it is too late?
This was indeed an entertaining romance. The dialogue between Aileen and Mykil was
extremely funny. Ms. Bryce combined an old world vampire with a very feisty human and
the results were not only humorous, but with the added sizzling sex scenes, explosive as
well. Plenty of action with secondary characters pulls this romance together with a bang.
A second in the series, it stands alone easily. I am now anxiously waiting for the third
book.
