Lizzie leads a nice, if unexciting, life as a nursery school teacher. Tonight is her thirtieth birthday and she is looking forward to her party with her friends and the hot guy from the gym. An adopted child, she has found her grandmother and is looking forward to meeting her.
Dimitri is a Griffin who has been looking for a demon slayer for some time now. The witch Gertie is on her way to one, and all he has to do is follow her.
When a nursery school teacher finds out on her thirtieth birthday that she is a demon slayer, and that her long lost grandmother is the only one who can help her use her powers, she hits the road with her biker granny and her now talking Jack Russell Terrier Pirate. A particularly nasty demon is out to get her and a very sexy Griffin seems to think her can teach her to be a slayer.
This story starts out funny, but gets very confusing after that for a while. I was very much in sympathy with Lizzie. Gertie's coven is extremely bizarre, a bunch of elderly biker babes who celebrate with a feast of road kill. Dimitri is hot, but devious; Pirate is the only one who does not lie to Lizzie to get her to do something for him. I really felt sorry for her. She was all set for a nice birthday when a grandmother who never bothered with her before, kidnaps her from her home and tells her she has to learn to be a demon slayer. Dimitri is little better, his reasons are a little more noble, but he uses her also. The story has many funny scenes and some really good love scenes and improved after the first quarter for an entertaining read with a satisfying ending.
