Rose Tremayne is a staff agency nurse. Due to certain circumstances eighteen years ago, she was forced to give her baby boy up for adoption. Life for Rose has been unsettling at times, considering she has an ailing father to tend to. Now her son desires to meet her and his adopted father is having a fit.
Dr. Owen Gallagher is consultant in charge of a trauma unit and the adopted father of Daniel, the child Rose gave up. To his shock and dismay, Rose is the new nurse on his team. Since his wife passed away, his son has expressed a yearning to find his natural mother. Owen is not happy about this, and at first tries to persuade Rose from the meeting, even to go as far as to bribe her.
Owen contacts Rose and demands she not see his son, ever. Rose is insulted and outraged by the attempt to force her to leave Daniel alone. To their disbelief, they discover they are now working together. His animosity towards Rose is very strong at first. As their working relationship continues, these two develop feelings for each other and the attraction grows. At one point, the obstacles seem insurmountable for Daniel, Owen, and Rose. Eventually, though, they manage to work everything out, with love being the key.
This is a very emotional and complex story. These three have issues that must be resolved before they can find a way to be a family. This story shows us how a mother loves her baby so much she lets him go to give him a better life. We see how fate will sometimes step in and bring two people together that may never have had a chance to otherwise. I loved this very touching and heartwarming tale.
